Welcome to the Kamloops and interior hotrod web page that groups together cars, trucks, bikes, ect and different types of racing or just plain having fun that regular people like to do in our area. This is a place any one and every one from far and wide,at their leisure with out any cost, can have input and gain information of different types of automobiles, technical information, groups and activities in our community and surrounding area's.
Interior hotrods has several goals, one is to provide mentor and education to young or new people influenced by a high performance vehicle. It is frustrating to have no government backing or corporate sponsorship to educate people on the "do's and don't's" of owning and oporating a high powered vehicle. It's counter productive to allow a 400HP or more sports car to be sold to any one with out training often end up seriously hurt or killing them selves or some one else.
Instead of having a web page for drag racing, and one for 4x4's, and so on, we're grouped all together as much of the information will transfer from one to the other, and we can all support each other.
This is not a race only page, but an information tool for every one, even everyday driving tips how to be safe and how to get better mileage and reliability from our auto's.
In a day when society glorifies racing, fast cars, modifications of all sorts, and the TV and movies are glorifying racing like it's a walk to the corner store. We grew up on show's like Dukes of Hazard, Starsky and Hutch, Knight Rider and movies like Cannon Ball Run, Smokey and the Bandit, Gone in 60 seconds, Fast and the Furious and many many more glorifying fast reckless driving and stunts. TV commercials selling cars and trucks constantly pitching power, racing capabilities, extreme driving giving the consumer(us) the yurn to purchase and drive just like what we see on TV and movies. Anybody can purchase a 300,400, 500, even 600HP vehicle straight of the lot with out any experience or information on how to handle that kind of power. It's criminal in my thought, then the cops, politicians, and people in power pass the blame to citizens with out any one being accountable, or any thought or funding for dealing with these problems.
It's sickening every time there is a accident, (mostly down at the coast because of the high rain environment) of young drivers being killed or in a serious accident because of lack of experience, education, and information on what can happen with power and speed. Nine Times out of Ten we see that the accident happened in the rain or slick conditions, simply because there isn't a thought go through their heads of how rain and wet road conditions reduces traction by 50%, they don't know, nobody has told them the basics of handling 3000lb cars and how to handle them properly and safely. We all did it at one time or another, speeding, racing, burnouts, I don't know how I lived though it all as I did some pretty stupid things as a young driver, testing the limits and often going over the limits, learning the hard way. That's why a good chunk of this web page is to provide information and limitations of safe driving handling power and speed and some of the things that effects them. People are needlessly dieing!
Auto manufactures and society are responsible for these problems, glorifying speed, racing, and power, producing vehicles with no use other than to have 400hp at the consumer's control just for fun. Politicians and cops blame consumer's for street racing, yeah like it's our fault, show a commercial of ZOOMZOOM, cars racing, sliding around corner's, then expect buyer's to drive the speed limit, give me a break! We are brain washed, when I was a kid growing up in the 70' and 80's cars were lucky to have 200hp now if it doesn't have at least 300hp people don't want it. Nobody has taken responsibility, not the manufactures, dealer's, cops, politicians, TV and Movie maker's all stick their heads up their asses, then when there is a street race with some one getting hurt or killed all hell breaks loose blaming the consumer.
What many of us would like to see is funding and sponsorship of education and enjoyment of auto sports so that the sport is safer and people can drive to survive. we would like the political society system to acknowledge these types of vehicles, their enjoyment, and yet their safety issues by addressing them in public forum such as a short course included with divers licensing of cause and effect and consequences of bad driving, the physics of center of gravity, traction issues, horsepower and weather change. To many young driver's have access to high powered auto's and are getting hurt or hurting other's from simple ignorance and it's not their fault, you can't know what you haven't been taught. Make a difference: If we can educate and save the life of just one person, shouldn't we try?
